We are proud to share the electric.film, a project that brings together the innovative mindset of web3 and the immense creative potential of the film industry in a way that empowers both audiences and creators. Our role was to help in the development process and define the functionality of the entire project.

Birth of electric.film studio

electric.film is a community-driven film studio that puts the art of the cinema first and empowers its members to create films they want to see. It aims to provide an alternative to traditional means of film financing and production to create better content for the audience.

Before we dive further into the project, let's flashback to the beginning and how it all started. electric.film story starts with an opening sequence that inspires the rest: It was hugely inspired by the making of Electric Child, a European indie sci-fi thriller by award-winning director Simon Jaquemet which is also the pilot project of the studio. electric.film has raised the €5 million film budget through traditional channels like public funding, TV collaborations, and pre-sales and they saw an opportunity to innovate by engaging Web3 communities.

Now let's talk about the project!

electric.film is an ERC-721 collection of 4096 NFTs and what's unique about the collection is that metadata of the NFT doesn’t exist until the NFT is minted. After the minting process is finished, the AI metadata server turns on and based on a set of parameters it creates an image and traits of a specific NFT. Every NFT is unique and visually related to the film Electric Child.

Genesis collection

Minting one or more electric.film Genesis Tokens makes the holders Founding Members of the electric.film studio. Members can submit their projects, gain exclusive access to sets, premieres, cast and crew Q&As, earn awards, and most importantly participate in developing the movies they want to see. Electric Child algorithm

The art is created by a revolutionary AI algorithm that generates unique and surprising post-photography art in real-time on mint, travelling the narrative visual space of the pilot project Electric Child. What's even more amazing is that every 5th artwork is special, because it's created by an algorithm designed by two featured artists Aoife O'Dwyer and Jah.

The algorithm responsible for generating 80% of the art was trained on images from the aforementioned movie, Electric Child. It imagines scenes from the movie that don't exist and it switches between various versions that were created during development.

To bring their vision to life, they sought a partner with extensive experience and knowledge in the web3 and NFT space — someone who could not only implement their ideas but also contribute innovative ones. This is where Blank comes into play.

Lights, Camera, Blank

electric.film is the first project that uses our internal infrastructure. Mintdash, our in-house platform plays a huge role in the project. Through Mintdash, we've created and configured the entire NFT collection, used allowlist management API, our custom-made indexer, and a webhook feature. Indexer and webhooks signal the AI metadata server to generate metadata instantly when the NFT mints. The amazing part is that the webhook is sent out before the user in Metamask can see that the transaction is confirmed. This is all thanks to our indexer which processes “hot blocks” - the blocks that are not 100% confirmed, but most likely will be. Webhook groups NFTs based on the address of the owner which minimises the number of requests if somebody is minting more than one NFT in a single transaction.

We are extremely proud of the result, but what's even more important to us is that our client is happy as well.
